Regeneration in Herne Bay
European Award for Herne Bay Regeneration
Why Regenerate Herne Bay?
Herne Bay was once a flourishing Victorian seaside resort. However, over the latter half of the 20th Century the town has struggled to respond to the general decline of traditional seaside tourism and a loss in business confidence. The result has been a steady spiral of decline and the deterioration of the physical fabric of the town.

Since 2005, the City Council has worked hard to ensure that, as far as possible, circumstances are in place to implement many of the major proposals outlined in the Herne Bay Area Action Plan. This has resulted in some early project successes; find out more about our notable achievements here.
